Recently, on the occasion of the 170th anniversary of the founding of Generali Agricultural Group, Corriere della Sera*, an authoritative media in Italy, published a full-page and special report on the news of the 170th anniversary of the founding of the Group, celebrating with the Group.
*Corriere della Sera is the largest Italian-language folio newspaper in circulation in Italy, and also the oldest one in existence. It was founded in Milan in March 1876 as an evening newspaper, but it is actually a morning newspaper. It is known for its independent editorial policy and its detailed and accurate coverage of international news.
The following is a translation of the newspaper, with a slight change in the order of the paragraphs:
In the next few days, a limited edition bottle of wine will be delivered to the President of the Italian Republic, Mr. Sergio Mattarella.
This is not just any wine, but a limited edition made on the occasion of the 170th anniversary of the founding of Genagricola, the agri-food holding company belonging to the Generali Group, which was established in 1851 and which owns the largest area of agricultural land in the history of Italy. It all began at the Cà Corniani estate near Venice, the “city of water”.

Meet Generali Agri Group:
· Agri-food holding company belonging to the Generali Group;
· It is the largest agricultural group in Italy, with a total of 15,000 hectares of arable land;
· The Group generates significant annual revenues in four countries: Italy, Romania, the United States and China;
· Founded in 1851, the company has been in business for 170 years;
· The Generali Insurance Group, of which it is a member, was founded in 1831 and has a history of 190 years.
“The Group's 170-year history has been long and stretches over 680 seasons,” said Mr. Igor Boccardo, CEO of Generali Agricultural Group, ”so to celebrate the Group's 170th anniversary, we have produced a limited edition of 680 bottles of high-quality vintage wines. In other words, this vintage is a very special wine. In other words, this aged vintage is just like the Generali Group, which has survived the years.”
“Wine is the main focus of the Industrial Group in the future. So with a heart that wanted to make a difference, and with this goal in mind, we created Leone Alato in 2021 - a business-focused group to drive the growth of the Generali Group in the wine segment. This is the 'container' of the brand's new structure, which includes Bricco dei Guazzi, Torre Rosazza and Costa Arènte. For the F&B channel, there will be a further shift to mid-range retail through brands such as Tenuta Sant'Anna to simplify sales of the portfolio.”

The concepts of “precision agriculture” and “sustainability” were born out of the Group's plans, as a result of the choice to pursue higher added value in production. On the first point, Mr. Igor Boccardo summarizes: “Agriculture 4.0 is a method, a system. It predicts how much energy the earth will provide when and how it will be utilized.”
With the intelligent use of satellites, drones, computers and tractors, the precision agriculture system used by the group today can reduce water consumption by 40%, diesel consumption by 9% and the use of chemicals by 20%. Another practice that the Generali Agricultural Group specializes in is symbiotic agriculture. “Mined” soil no longer absorbs carbon dioxide. However, through simple daily agricultural practices that re-establish the soil flora, the soil can be 'regenerated' and the use of chemical products can be dramatically reduced (-90%~-95%). The use of carbon farming techniques will also be a new challenge. It will achieve the goal of carbon neutrality.
“It's all about sustainability,” says Mr. Igor Boccardo ”and hopefully, with the first Group Sustainability Report to be published this year, these practices will be fully realized in the shortest possible time.”
